There's a hole around the corner from (perpendicular to) the handle, where a hook-like tool is used to disengage a lever. When I shine a light in the hole, it's doesn't look like there's a lever like in the videos. Does anyone know how to do this for the 2017 Golf?

Yes you do have to take off the inner door trim panel (not the part with the window regulator, just the part you see and touch every day) so you can get to the screw that holds the tweeter in place. Then remove the tweeter. Then you can pull out the old seal, and put in the new. pBk5S.
