2007 Ford Explorer Review: A Bad Year Buyers Should Avoid With Expensive Mechanical Problems. The 2007 Ford Explorer lasts around 150,000 to 200,000 miles transmission and engine issues. At $5,315 to $6,731 it’s cheap, but not worth it with the high ownership costs.
City, State. Clintwood, VA. Year, Model & Trim Level. 98 Ford Explorer XLT. September 11, 2012. #1. This has been a project that is still currently on-going but the old 4.0 SOHC would start and run just had low oil pressure so i swapped it out with a 4.0 SOHC with 76k miles on it. All the sensors are swapped over etc
I had rough running and a P0401 code indicating an EGR valve problem. There is NO separate DPFE on an '05 despite the recommendations in many forums that you replace the DPFE first. There's an EGR systems module (ESM) that incorporates a DPFE. I got the Motorcraft EGR valve (part # CX-2102) from Amazon for $101.
